Patio paver material estimator
Paver Patio Calculator
Estimate patio pavers, base gravel, bedding sand, waste, and paver cost from the measured patio size and paver dimensions. Built for quick material ordering before the first trip to the yard.
Paver count is an order estimate
Base depth, compaction, edge restraint, drainage, slope, geotextile, and local soil conditions change real material needs. Match this estimate to the paver manufacturer and site prep plan.

Paver patio formula
Patio area ft² = length × width
Pavers = patio area × (1 + waste %) ÷ paver face area
Base yd³ = area ft² × base depth in ÷ 324
Sand yd³ = area ft² × sand depth in ÷ 324
Example
A 12 ft by 16 ft patio using 6×9 in pavers, 10% waste, 4 in base, and 1 in bedding sand needs about 423 pavers, 2.37 yd³ of base, and 0.59 yd³ of sand.
Paver Patio Calculator FAQ
How does this paver patio calculator work?+
It multiplies measured job dimensions by the coverage, spacing, or package yield you enter, adds waste, then rounds the buy quantity up. Paver size, base depth, and bedding depth drive the estimate.
Should I use the default waste value?+
Use the default for a quick planning estimate, then raise it for cuts, odd layouts, breakage, bad access, or product-specific loss.
Is this a bid or code approval?+
No. It is a material planning calculator. Verify product data, local code, structural requirements, electrical requirements, and supplier packaging before ordering or building.
