Roof drainage material estimator
Gutter Calculator
Estimate gutter linear footage, stock sections, downspouts, corners, waste, and rough material cost from roof-edge measurements. Use it after roof pitch, shingle, or underlayment takeoffs when exterior trim and drainage are next.
Gutters need drainage and attachment checks
This is a material count only. Roof area, rainfall intensity, gutter profile, outlet size, slope, hangers, fascia condition, snow/ice, and local codes can change the final layout.

Gutter material formula
Order length = eave length × runs × (1 + waste %)
Gutter sections = order length ÷ stock section length
Downspouts = ceiling(order length ÷ target spacing)
Corners = inside corners + outside corners
Sample takeoff
A 40 ft eave on two runs with 10 ft gutter sections, 10% waste, and downspouts every 35 ft needs about nine gutter sections and three downspouts.
Gutter Calculator FAQ
How does this gutter calculator work?+
It multiplies measured job dimensions by the coverage, spacing, or package yield you enter, adds waste, then rounds the buy quantity up. Use the actual gutter profile and stock lengths from your supplier when possible.
Should I use the default waste value?+
Use the default for a quick planning estimate, then raise it for cuts, odd layouts, breakage, bad access, or product-specific loss.
Is this a bid or code approval?+
No. It is a material planning calculator. Verify product data, local code, structural requirements, electrical requirements, and supplier packaging before ordering or building.
