Measured ft³ = length × width ft × depth ft × footing runs

Measured yd³ = measured ft³ ÷ 27

Order volume = measured volume × (1 + waste %)

Bags = order ft³ ÷ bag yield

Sample takeoff

A 40 ft continuous footing at 16 in wide and 8 in deep with 10% waste needs about 1.45 yd³ of concrete, or about 66 bags if each bag yields 0.60 ft³.

How do I calculate concrete for a footing?+

Multiply footing length by width and depth, convert to cubic yards or cubic meters, then add waste before ordering.

Does this calculator size the footing?+

No. It only estimates concrete quantity. Footing width, depth, reinforcement, frost depth, and bearing requirements must come from code, plans, or an engineer.

Should I order bags or ready-mix?+

Small footings may use bags. Larger continuous footings usually need ready-mix, supplier minimums, and access planning.
