Concrete slab rough cost estimator
Concrete Slab Cost Calculator
Estimate a rough concrete slab total from slab size, thickness, waste, concrete price, base prep allowance, form length, labor rate, and markup. Use it for early owner, builder, and supplier conversations before real quotes.
Slab cost is not a bid
This is a planning model. Real slab price depends on excavation, subbase, vapor barrier, rebar or mesh, finish, pump or buggy access, labor market, taxes, permits, and supplier quotes.

Concrete slab cost formula
Area = length × width
Concrete yd³ = area × thickness ft ÷ 27 × (1 + waste %)
Material subtotal = concrete + base prep + forms
Total = (material + labor) × (1 + markup %)
Sample takeoff
A 20 ft by 24 ft slab at 4 in thick with 10% waste is about 6.52 yd³. At $155 per yd³, $1.25 per ft² base prep, $5 per ft forms, and $3.50 per ft² labor, the rough total is about $3,730 before markup.
Concrete Slab Cost Calculator FAQ
How do I estimate concrete slab cost?+
Estimate slab area and concrete volume, add base prep, forms, labor, waste, and any markup or contingency.
Does this include rebar or mesh?+
No. Add reinforcement as a separate supplier line, or use the rebar calculator for a material count.
Why is this not a bid?+
Access, finish, reinforcement, pump time, demolition, grading, regional labor, tax, and supplier quotes can move the real number.
