Floor prep bag estimator
Floor Leveling Compound Calculator
Estimate self-leveling compound or floor patch bags from floor area, average depth, waste, bag yield, and bag cost. It connects flooring, tile, garage floor tile, and floor mud takeoffs before the finished material goes down.
Floor prep depends on product and substrate
This calculator estimates bag counts only. Primer, lath, substrate strength, moisture, temperature, minimum and maximum depth, damming, expansion joints, and manufacturer instructions control the real pour.

Floor leveling compound formula
Leveler ft³ = floor area × average depth in ÷ 12
Order volume = leveler volume × (1 + waste %)
Bags = order volume ÷ bag yield
Sample takeoff
A 120 ft² floor at 1/4 in average depth with 10% waste and 0.5 ft³ yield per bag needs about six bags.
Floor Leveling Compound Calculator FAQ
How do I calculate floor leveling compound bags?+
Multiply floor area by average depth, add waste for low spots and mixing loss, then divide by the yield per bag.
Can I use this for feather finish patch?+
Yes if you enter the correct average depth and product yield. Very thin skim coats should use the product coverage chart.
Does this check floor deflection or moisture?+
No. Floor flatness, deflection, moisture, primer, and product limits must be checked before pouring.
