Exterior stucco material estimator

Stucco Calculator

Estimate stucco bags, coat volume, lath rolls, waste, and rough material cost from wall area, openings, average coat thickness, bag yield, and lath coverage. Use it as an early exterior finish takeoff before checking the product system.

Stucco systems are product and climate specific

This calculator estimates bags and lath only. Substrate, drainage, paper, lath fastening, control joints, coat sequence, curing, climate, code, and manufacturer instructions decide the real assembly.

Stucco bag formula

Net wall area = wall area - openings

Stucco ft³ = net area × coat thickness inches ÷ 12

Order volume = stucco volume × (1 + waste %)

Bags = order volume ÷ bag yield

Lath rolls = net area × (1 + waste %) ÷ lath roll coverage

Sample takeoff

An 800 ft² exterior wall with 80 ft² of openings, 3/8 in average coat thickness, 10% waste, and 0.6 ft³ yield per bag needs about 42 bags and six 150 ft² lath rolls.

Stucco Calculator FAQ

How do I calculate stucco bags?+

Subtract openings from wall area, multiply by average coat thickness, add waste, then divide by the yield per bag.

Does this include lath?+

Yes, it includes a simple lath roll count from net wall area and roll coverage. Fasteners, paper, flashing, and control joints must be handled separately.

Can this replace a stucco system spec?+

No. Stucco assemblies depend on substrate, climate, code, product data, and inspection requirements.
